MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Please, support this important drive to strengthen healthcare in Jamaica.
Together, we can make a real difference.

Welcome to The Push-Start Foundation!

I established this Foundation in October 2010 to help provide meaningful support to the healthcare sector in Jamaica. It has been a driving purpose in my life since then, more than 40 years after choosing the United States as my adopted home country.

I’ve put my deep passion for healthcare, as well as my training and years of professional experience to work for this cause because there is a very urgent need to strengthen service delivery to the people of Jamaica. But, I can’t do it alone. The Push-Start Foundation is meant to be the place where people who share a passion to help can join forces and effect meaningful change in people’s lives and circumstance.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed in 2015 identified ‘Good Health and Well-being’ as one of 17 areas for special focus ahead of 2030 to put countries and people on a path for progress. The 2030 agenda specifically cites the need to “achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential healthcare services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all”.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

The well-being of any population is essential for true and sustainable economic and social advancement.  That is the primary reason for the investment of my personal funds to the tune of US$25,000 to support 74 frontline healthcare workers in Jamaica for their personal use in February 2021. It’s also the central reason I invested US$1 million of my personal funds to begin restoration work at the Chapelton Community Hospital in Clarendon, Jamaica, in 2019. This work is ongoing. We are in the process of raising additional funds to complete the Chapelton project and furnish the facility with state-of-the-art equipment. We’re proud of the work we’ve done so far and the improvements it has brought to people’s lives. We need your support to complete this project, continue others and branch out into new areas such as a pilot project to provide a meal-a-day for the homeless.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

There is much to be done but it can and will be done if we work together to get Jamaica’s healthcare system on par with the best globally. This is possible. Let us make it happen. Join in this effort to strengthen the healthcare sector and in the fight to reduce hunger across Jamaica. Please give what you can. If you have other gifts such as material items for use at hospitals and health centres, and donations to food banks, please email or call us.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE

We will publicly account for everything you donate. You will find reports on this site and in the media. Every contribution, however big or small, makes a difference. Thank you so much for supporting Jamaica and its people.
